Magnitude 5.5 quake hits Bolinao, Pangasinan

A magnitude 5.5 earthquake rocked Bolinao, Pangasinan last October 2 around 9:40 p.m., according to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The earthquake was a tectonic in origin with a depth of 26 kilometers.

The quake was felt at intensity V in Bolinao, while at intensity IV in Lingayen, Alaminos City, Sual, Burgos, Dasol, and San Fabian, Pangasinan; and Alilem, Ilocos Sur.

It was at intensity III in San Carlos, Malasiqui, Laoac, Bayambang and Dagupan City, Pangasinan; San Emilio, Ilocos Sur; and Bauang, La Union.

Other surrounding areas also felt the quake at intensity II like in Bugallon, Mangaldan and Asingan, Pangasinan; San Fernando City, La Union; Palauig, Zambales; Baguio City; San Mateo, Rizal; Makati City, Pasig City, Quezon City, Pasay City and Marikina City, and at intensity I in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.

Moreover, no casualty to life and property was reported after the tremor.

Meanwhile, PHINMA-University of Pangasinan together with the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) conducted the annual earthquake drill which was participated by the Senior High School (SHS) students last September 30.
