Student-leaders led tree planting activity
To stop climate change and global warming, approximately 250 student-leaders from Phinma University of Pangasinan Main and UPang Urdaneta led the UPang Goes Green 2016, an annual tree-planting activity at Manleluag Spring Protected Landscape, Malabobo, Mangatarem, Pangasinan last August 12.
The officers from Senior High School (SHS) Student Council, College of Arts and Science (CAS), Campus Ministry together with the instructors and SHS Science teachers planted more than 150 seedlings.
The activity was in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
To develop camaraderie and get to know each other, the officers were divided into groups comprised with members from different councils.
Before they go to the site where they are going to plant those seedlings, the OIC of the Manleluag Spring taught them what to do in case of accident and how to plant the seedling properly.
While they were planting the seedlings on the chosen site in the mountain, the rain poured down.
However, because of their willingness, they continued planting the seedlings. Some people in the Manleluag Spring have helped them to reach the maximum number of seedling to be planted.
Meanwhile, after the tree planting activity, a thanksgiving mass was conducted led by the Campus Ministry.
The activity ended by awarding the certificate of participation to the delegates.
“We succeed! Yes, it is a tiring day but it is an enjoyable and a momentous one!” a student-leader exclaimed.
